Invisible Disparities, 2011-Present

Multi-channel video, kinetic installation, dust sculptures, artist book.

In this project, currently in-progress, I explore an experimental reading of temporality in our material world. I focus on issues of chronology and dating, and notions of change and memory. I call this approach psycho-archaeological. I begin by selecting sites from around the world where a plurality of histories, times, and potentialities physically co-exist within their man-made infrastructural elements. I then travel to each site to collect and archive its dust. I vacuum the dust. The vacuuming instigates, both literally and metaphorically, the convergence of disparate temporal, historical, and material relationships. I methodically document the dust collection and archival process on video. At the project’s completion, I will have collected dust from approximately fifty sites from around the world. I will then mix all dust samples. And finally, I will fuse the dust at high temperatures.

Biografía

ERNESTO KLAR (Estados Unidos / Venezuela) artista, trabaja en nuevos medios, reside en Nueva York desde 2002. Klar, trabaja la interactiva, participación y  capacidades generativas de las tecnologías digitales. En sus trabajos exploran el potencial poético de revelar y transformar el umbral entre lo perceptible y lo imperceptible. A través de una sutil y en ocasiones radical manipulación de la luz, el sonido y el espacio. Su trabajo ha sido exhibido en festivales,galerías y museos de EE.UU, Brasil, Francia, México,Italia, España y Holanda. Sus premios incluyen el primer premio del File Prix Luxen la categoría de Artes Interactivas (2010), el PremioSHARE (2010), la Beca Artística en Artes Informática d ela New York Foundation for the Arts (2007), una Beca Artística del New York State Council on the Arts (2009) y también becas y ayudas de la Greenwall Foundation (2009) y del Experimental Television Center (2010),entre otros. Klar es MFA de Parsons The New School for Design, y del BMD Berklee College of Music. Desde el 2005, es miembro del cuerpo docente en Parsons The New School for Design y del The New School for Film and Me-dia Studies en la ciudad de Nueva York.
